McLaren revealed the McLaren GTS. Set to replace the GT in the prestigious McLaren lineup, the new car is engineered to cater to discerning drivers seeking a harmonious blend of dynamic excellence, driving excitement, and practical features for both routine drives and extended journeys.
Retaining the iconic McLaren attributes of stunning yet functional design, an exceptional power-to-weight ratio achieved through lightweight carbon fiber construction, and unparalleled driving dynamics, the GTS introduces a new level of visual prowess. The elegant exterior, based on the GT’s lines, has been enhanced to exude even more assertiveness. The signature ‘hammerhead’ styling at the front boasts a new lower bumper with sculpted, wider air intakes, reflecting McLaren’s racing DNA. The rear fenders feature taller air scoops, aiding airflow into the 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine.
Optional gloss visual carbon fiber elements, such as the front air intake blades and rear fender air intakes, contribute to the GTS’s aggressive aesthetic. McLaren GTS also offers a Stealth Badge Pack option, allowing enthusiasts to tint the badges with a black finish for a sleek, understated appearance.
At the heart of the GTS lies the carbon fiber MonoCell II-T monocoque chassis, ensuring a perfect balance of strength and lightweight construction. Weighing in at just 3,351lbs (DIN), the GTS claims the title of the lightest car in its class, boasting a segment-best power-to-weight ratio of 412bhp-per-ton. The 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine roars to life with 626bhp, propelling the GTS from 0-60mph in a mere 3.1 seconds and achieving a top speed of 203mph.
The GTS offers a seamless driving experience with its seven-speed SSG transmission, featuring Comfort, Sport, and Track modes through the Active Dynamics Panel. The electro-hydraulic steering system, adaptive damping suspension, and carbon ceramic braking system are uniquely tuned for the GTS, prioritizing balance, agility, and comfort.
Contrary to the typical supercar, the McLaren GTS excels in practicality. The carbon fiber rear upper structure allows for a spacious 14.8 cubic feet luggage compartment, accessed through an electrically operated glass tailgate. The total cargo space of 20.1 cubic feet positions the GTS as the most practical supercar on the market.
Inside, the GTS combines performance with luxury. The cabin features machine-polished aluminum controls, Nappa leather-trimmed Comfort seats, and optional visual carbon fiber packs. The 10.25-inch digital instrument display and 7-inch central touchscreen infotainment system offer a blend of information and entertainment.
The GTS offers an extensive range of exterior colors, including exclusive options like Mantis Green and the GTS-specific Lava Grey. Wheel options, such as the new 10-spoke Turbine lightweight forged alloy wheel, and various finishes allow enthusiasts to customize their GTS further. McLaren ensures the GTS’s longevity with standard warranties and the option to extend through the McLaren Extended Warranty.
