Studio8, a design and development studio based in Shanghai, has designed MUSÉE flagship store in Beijing. The consignment luxury goods store is an open platform for timeless exquisite accessories. It smashes boundaries across generations and fashion trends and is the place where you can find luxury accessories of any kind. This concept has inspired the designers at Studio8 to create a flexible space with “soft boundaries” and a diverse color palette.
MUSÉE flagship in Beijing transforms shopping into an unconventional experience that allows customers to learn more about the item they are buying and re-evaluate it with the support of professional consultants. Envisioned by Studio8, the interior of the retail space doesn’t have clear boundaries that was achieved with the help of the mobile multi-functional counters and the central consignment room. Materials such as natural stones, stainless steel, copper and glass have been boldly applied to make the space stylish and contemporary.
The open area of the main hall is equipped with a casted track system that lets the counters with stainless steel wheels slide. They can be reorganized, regrouped and relocated to adjust to any event that takes place in the shop, be it daily operations, member get-togethers, static display or trend lectures. The hanging magnetic track lighting system with various lighting fixtures such as spot lights, pendants and wall washers can be easily adapted to the position of the mobile counters.
The consignment room is positioned in the center of the space, which is also at the cross point of the axis of three entrances. An artificial skylight above the desks contributes to a professional laboratory ambience and the copper shelves with goods and lifestyle accessories installed around the glass consignment room allow the outside customers to admire the goods. The counters are made of marble and sand stone and cool stainless steel wall cabinets create a stylish, yet subtle background for larger items such as handbags.
The VIP room is located in a more private section opposite to the main entrance. Unlike the rest of the space, it features blue accents, sliding panels and flush doors, carefully selected decorative lamps and flower arrangements.
