Parmigiani Fleurier, famous for its commitment to exceptional craftsmanship, has unveiled a true horological masterpiece – L’Armoriale. This one-of-a-kind pocket watch is a celebration of Michel Parmigiani’s extraordinary origins and birthday, inspired by the architectural wonders of the Palazzo Te in Mantua, Northern Italy.
Guido Terreni, CEO of Parmigiani Fleurier, embarked on a journey to explore Michel Parmigiani’s roots and immerse himself in the timeless beauty of Palazzo Te. The Renaissance-era palace, with its meticulous handcraftsmanship, left an indelible mark on Terreni. The Hall of Giants, resonating with echoes of Parmigiani’s passions for Renaissance, architecture, nature, and the Golden ratio, became the wellspring of inspiration for L’Armoriale.
At the heart of this horological marvel is the L’Armoriale movement, a genuine work of art combining a chronograph, a minute repeater, and a perpetual calendar with a moon phase against an aventurine sky. The movement, dating back to 1890 and signed by A. Golay Leresche & Fils in Geneva, showcases Parmigiani’s commitment to preserving history and integrating it seamlessly with innovation.
Parmigiani Fleurier enlisted the expertise of master craftsmen, known as “Mains d’Or” or “Golden Hands,” to bring L’Armoriale to life. From intricate engraving to delicate enamel work, each artisan played a crucial role in the creation of this extraordinary timepiece. The collaboration of talents such as Vanessa Lecci, Eddy Jaquet, Christophe Blandenier, and Laurent Jolliet is evident in every detail.
Vanessa Lecci, the Master Enameller, transformed the 18-carat white gold case back into a grand feu enamel masterpiece. Inspired by Palazzo Te’s floors, the enamel shades were meticulously chosen to mirror the coat of arms of the Gonzaga family. The result is a visually captivating interplay of light and color, showcasing the rare artistry of grand feu enameling.
Laurent Jolliet, one of the last practitioners of his craft, crafted a remarkable chain that seamlessly integrates with L’Armoriale’s design. Meticulously shaped by hand, each link reflects Parmigiani Fleurier’s distinctive aesthetic while adding an element of great elegance to the pocket watch.
Eddy Jaquet and Christophe Blandenier, internationally acclaimed master engravers, contributed their unparalleled expertise to the 18-carat white gold case. The detailed motifs, palmettes, and fluting on the caseband showcase their mastery, elevating L’Armoriale to an artistic triumph.
