Porsche Design releases the Chronograph 718 Spyder RS, exclusively available for buyers of the new Porsche 718 Spyder RS and 718 Spyder RS convertible roadster with Weissach package. Handcrafted with meticulous precision at Porsche’s own watch manufactory in Solothurn, Switzerland, each timepiece boasts high-quality design features and numerous technical details that have been expertly matched to the vehicle, creating a truly emotive experience for the wearer.
The 718 Spyder RS boasts a distinctive flat silhouette and streamlined appearance that sets it apart from the crowd. Its six-cylinder mid engine, race-proven GT chassis, and lightweight construction provide exceptional agility on the road. The accompanying chronograph is designed to match the car’s performance, with a lightweight titanium case that doesn’t add unnecessary weight. In addition, the chronograph can be customized just like its motorized counterpart. The case is available in natural titanium or black titanium, with a corresponding color bezel featuring a tachymeter or minute dial. The Porsche Design timepieces configurator allows for customization of the color ring around the dial, with a choice of standard, metallic, and special colors, as well as 114 additional “Paint to Sample” options, including historic Porsche colors. The scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with seven-fold anti-reflective coating ensures optimal readability during high-speed driving. The carbon “RS” dial and black “GT” dial provide motorsport touches, while the white hour and minute indexes made of ceramic Super-LumiNova® luminous material offer a sporty contrast. The totalizers feature “Flyback” lettering and an “M” and “H” for minutes and hours in Racing Yellow. The hands come in PERFORMANCE (white), ESSENCE (black), or GT (yellow), intensifying the racing experience with every second. Finally, the mechanical gear indicator at 9 o’clock adds a chequered flag design in black and white, and dynamic “Spyder RS” lettering to underscore the car’s ultimate motorsport genes.
The Chronograph 718 Spyder RS boasts a rotor that resembles the iconic Spyder RS wheel on its back, while the Weissach package counterpart features a rotor resembling the lightweight magnesium alloy wheel. Both rotors are available in six colors – Brilliant Silver, Aluminum (satin finish), Dark Silver, Neodyme, Indigo Blue, and Black – and are adorned with an “RS” logo in Brilliant Silver at the center of the end cap. For a more personalized touch, customers can choose additional model-specific rotor colors using the timepiece configurator.
The back of the chronograph can also be further customized by engraving a text of up to 12 characters. This allows for the inclusion of the vehicle identification number (VIN) of the matching roadster or any other desired text, adding a unique touch to the timepiece.
The Porsche Design WERK 01.200 is a highly accurate chronograph that has been COSC-certified. Enclosed in the glass bead-blasted titanium back, it seamlessly blends with the case color, giving it an elegant look. This watch boasts a flyback function that enables the user to perform starting, stopping, and resetting in a single operation, enhancing its convenience. However, the high-precision movement can be a drawback as it shows to the second when it’s time to finish the thrilling drive in the 718 Spyder RS and head home.
The watch comes with a black smooth vehicle leather strap with a black Race-Tex attachment that has “Spyder RS” embossed at the 6 o’clock position, accentuating its connection to the 718 Spyder RS. The contrasting stitching is also available in Carmine Red or Arctic Gray as an option. Additionally, customers can choose to equip the watch with high-quality metal straps, including the buckle, which is made of titanium. All straps come with a quick-change mechanism and a folding clasp with pushers that match the case color, making it easy to swap out the strap for a different look.
The new Porsche Design Chronograph 718 Spyder RS is an exclusive timepiece that is available only to buyers of the new Porsche 718 Spyder RS and Porsche 718 Spyder RS with Weissach package. It can be ordered at a starting price of 9,500 euros (RRP) from any Porsche Center worldwide. Upon purchase, customers will receive the chronograph in a high-quality box along with a plaque that includes the limitation number. The configurator can also be used to personalize the plaque by adding individual text for engraving.
If customers purchase the 718 Spyder RS with Weissach package and matching chronograph, the metal is adorned with a unique “Weissach RS” graphic that features a stylized test track of the Porsche Development Centre in Weissach. This adds a touch of exclusivity to the timepiece, making it a truly special addition to any collection.
