With Baselworld, one of the biggest watches and luxury fairs in the world fast approaching, the major watch brands are preparing to display the best of their product and launch new ones. During the six days of this year’s event, which will take place between the 22nd and 17th of March 2018, Bulgari will showcase Divas’ Dream, Serpenti and Octo three collections. The brand’s infinite creative potential epitomizes the new Octo Tourbillon Sapphire timepiece from the Octo line that proves just as powerful in terms of interpretations, with its aesthetic potential offering countless possibilities for playing with various materials and contents in order to confirm its stature as a supremely contemporary watch.
Bulgari Octo Tourbillon Sapphire watch is the new take on the formal purity of the octagon shape, which has been regarded as a source of perfection. The 44mm-diameter timepiece crafted in titanium DLC-black coated (Diamond Like Carbon) is fitted with new case that lets light get in to illuminate the beauty of the movement.
Its dial and transparent caseback reveal the mechanical manual-winding flying tourbillon movement, Calibre BVL 206. Positioned at the heart of the watch, it features 11 DLC-coated bridges adorned with blue bars made of ITR2 – a unique composite material laden with carbon nanotube particles and endowed with metal-like hardness – and SLN, a high-tech luminescent material. The bridges are used as hour-markers and also support the movement.
The time-setting process of the Octo Tourbillon Sapphire is the result of a refined development operation. One press on the crown reveals a red dot in the micro-aperture at 3 o’clock, signalling that the time may be set simply by rotating the crown. Once the operation is complete, a further press causes the dot to vanish and locks the time-setting mechanism.
