First launched in 2017, the Gucci Hollywood Forever eyewear concept is back for 2021. The collection is named after Hollywood Forever Cemetery – a full-service cemetery, funeral home, crematory, and cultural events center which regularly hosts community events such as live music and summer movie screenings.
This lineup of sunglasses with glittering crystals that are meticulously applied by hand is inspired by a timeless style of old Hollywood glamour. Bold contours and exaggerated volumes define the new metal and acetate styles including a cat-eye silhouette reimagined with sharp corners and spoked edges, heart-shaped lenses, and a classic round design restyled with an oversize front.
A whimsical evolution of the classic cat-eye–a silhouette that started to take shape in the late ‘50s, the cat-eye frame sunglasses are reimagined with a textured approach. The encrusted crystals play into the geometric frame with references to optical art. For an unexpected finish, rectangular-frame sunglasses are covered with sparkling crystals and contrasting pink lenses. Geometrical-frame sunglasses are imbued with a pop-inspired feel with a heart-shaped frame and embellished with allover crystals. Pink lenses complete the look.
These new Hollywood Forever styles are showcased on a cast of characters captured in colorful tiled bathrooms taking extravagant bubble baths. Shot by artist, photographer, and director Harmony Korine, the mood of the new campaign is playful and fun.
