ROOF on theWit, one of the most popular destinations in Chicago and the city’s very first rooftop deck, located on the 27th floor of theWit Hotel, 201 N. State Street, is unveiling their brand-new renovation. Ultra-chic and sophisticated, the completely rejuvenated ROOF includes a new open-air space, The Gallery, boldly designed by Koo Architecture (who recently also designed Offshore at Navy Pier) with a retractable roof that features a spectacular Artisan Wall, complete with a kaleidoscope of twirling digital art on nine LED screens.
ROOF on theWit was a pioneer in changing the landscape of rooftops both locally and nationwide. The new deck features lush yet comfortable lounge seating, captivating contemporary art, and dynamic video technology amidst stunning ambiance. Their Patio has also undergone a fresh, stylish renovation and presents an international inspired menu, live summer entertainment, and new seasonal programming.
The Gallery features a spectacular Artisan Wall which comprises nine LED screens that create a colorful space. The installation will change daily as it transitions from daytime to nighttime. After dusk, the production lights shine colors of blue, amber, and purple over the room, with spotlights radiating light beams and live DJ music throughout. The design of the new space is influenced by Spanish and Moroccan styles and features rich colors and a monochromatic tile mosaic on the floor. A 40-foot golden Magnum Bar is 22 feet high and boasts an impressive 160” screen that displays some of the world’s most exclusive selection of champagnes and spirits.
Right in time for summer, ROOF created special programming, including the Rosé Garden Summer Pop-Up. This exclusive experience on the intimate Hangover entices guests to enjoy luxurious Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame Rosé, while being suspended 27 stories above the bustling city below. Pop Sundays offers exclusive champagne flights, brunch towers, a pop-art gallery, and live beats for the ultimate Sunday hangout destination.
To complement ROOF’s new look and multisensory experience, award-winning Executive Chef Nathan Sears has created 15 new vibrant internationally inspired dishes, including items such as an 8 oz. Grilled Prime Strip Steak, Grilled Eggplant + Goat Cheese Toast, along with his signature seasonal Paellas where he infuses flavors from Spain and the surrounding spice-bearing regions.
Piers Smyth, ROOF’s new award-winning Director of Restaurants & Beverage, has created various beverage offerings that include some of the finest and rarest spirits and champagnes in the world and an exclusive private barrel whiskey and tequila. Smyth has developed an exclusive Decanter Collection, meant to showcase premium spirits, barrel-aged in house, along with a brand new Macallan experience featuring the Macallan 1824 Master Series, a unique tasting where guests can enjoy some of the rarest spirits in the world.
