Signature de Chanel is a 48 jewelry pieces collection that reinterprets the iconic 2.55 bag quilting using diamonds, pearls and sapphires
Signature de Chanel is the new High Jewelry collection from the French fashion house. Inspired by the stitching technique known as “matelassé”, the jewelry pieces in the Signature de Chanel collection are delicately engraved with quilting – a hallmark of many Chanel products including its purses, handbags, shoes, jackets and clutches.
The Signature de Chanel collection of High Jewelry was inspired by the world of Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. The matelassé method originating from the equestrian society, Mademoiselle Chanel borrowed the quilted pattern, which made saddles more comfortable for horse-riding, to create the beige cushions on the large sofa in her apartment on Rue Cambon in Paris. The classic Chanel signature was first introduced by Coco Chanel herself on the 2.55 bag on February 2, 1955. In 2015, designers at Chanel Joaillerie have revived matelassé motif in the collection Coco Crush, and this year marks the return of the iconic quilting in Signature de Chanel High Jewelry Collection.
The opulent jewelry range in Signature de Chanel collection includes graphic checkerboard patterns worked into white gold watches and twined into the length of free-flowing necklaces embellished with sapphires, rock crystals and pearl marquetry. The Signature de Chanel collection is a testament to the meticulous expertise of the house’s artisans who create and craft pieces of jewelry that are pieces of Art.
