Opening March 2019, The One Palácio da Anunciada in Lisbon is housed in an old 16th-century palace, restored and recovered by prestigious Chilean interior designer Jamie Beriestain. Located in Lisbon’s most exclusive area, a few meters from the central Praca dos Restauradores and Avenida da Liberade, the hotel is perfect for those wanting to discover the bustling city and learn more about Lisbon’s history.
The Palácio da Anunciada, also known as Palácio dos Condes da Ericeira is the former residence of a respected noble Portuguese family, the Counts of Ericeira. Founded in 1533 by Fernão Alves de Andrade, benefactor of the monastery of Nossa Senhora da Anunciada, the building was once home to a library with more than 18,000 books and a museum with works of Rubens, Titian and Correggio and its gardens boasted a sculpture of Bernini built in Rome. The Palácio da Anunciada was seriously damaged during an earthquake in 1755. Later on, it was acquired by the Count of Burnay and, in 1926, by Ateneu Comercial of Lisbon.
Inspired by the original design of the building, Jaime Beriestain recovered its splendor to create luxurious space guests filled with modern facilities within. From the restored ceilings, to the extensive gardens featuring a protected hundred-year-old dragon tree, everything has been brought back to life with care.
The One Palácio da Anunciada features 83 rooms – of which 5 suites – a Gastronomic Restaurant, a Gourmet Cocktail Bar and a Wine & Tapas bar, a 2,500 square metre garden and an outdoor swimming pool with bar, the Despacio Spa at The One, business centre and meetings facilities.
The guest rooms are characterized by contemporary luxury designs. As a tribute to Portuguese tradition, each room includes original hand-painted ceramic pieces created exclusively for the hotel, as well as images of the original building that take guests on a journey through the history of the palace. A generous marble double sink bathroom features walk-in shower, luxurious bed linen from Casa Bassols 1790 and exclusive amenities by Natura Bissé Barcelona.
The hotel’s restaurant, Condes da Erceira led by Chef Bruno Fradeira, is located in one of the grand halls of the palace and boasts an access to the gardens. With design still front of mind with its coffered ceiling and hand-painted frescoes, the restaurant offers traditional Portuguese cuisine with a Mediterranean twist.
The Wine & Tapas Bar Boémio Cocktail Lounge lets guests enjoy a delicious selection of signature tapas and a varied list of Portuguese and international wines as well as the finest cocktails, and the Gourmet Cocktail Bar with a direct view on the palace gardens open exclusively to hotel guests to ensure privacy.
The hotel’s Despacio Spa at The One features heated experience pool, a sauna, a sensory shower, a relaxation area with sun loungers and two treatment rooms where hotels guests enjoy an extensive range of spa and wellbeing experiences with Natura Bissé used by Hollywood stars around the world. There is also the 24-hour gym fitted with the latest cardiovascular and toning workout equipment.
