Boat International Media has announced the Finalists for the 10th annual World Superyacht Awards, which will take place on May 9 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The “Oscars” of the superyacht world is expected to be attended by an elite guest list of superyacht owners from around the globe and the most influential people in the superyacht industry. Representing highly innovative hull technology, powerful performance, unparalleled interior design, as well as incomparable Dutch construction standards, superyacht Galatea from Heesen Yachts is among finalists for this prestigious award.
The innovative and original 40 metre superyacht Galatea was launched by Dutch shipyard, Heesen Yachts, in January of 2014. Designed as part of the shipyard’s 4000 series Sportster, Galatea’s interior and exterior are designed by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects, whilst her naval architecture is by Heesen in co-operation with Van Oossanen Naval Architects. The impressive exterior space of luxury yacht has three outdoor entertaining or sunbathing areas, including an 85 square metre sundeck (which can be open or hard top), an enormous foredeck sun pad and an aft deck dining terrace. Bespoke teak furniture, including a built-in teppanyaki grill, completes this upper deck area.
Galatea can accommodate up to 10 guests and provide them with an upscale retreat inside five beautifully appointed and elegant cabins. These include a full-beam main deck master cabin, two full-beam VIP double cabins as well as two twin cabins on the lower deck, all fitted with marble ensuite bathrooms. Their timeless luxury is provided thanks to Giallo D’Istria, Mistic Brown and Bianco Raffaello marbles. In addition, the main deck offers the saloon, a dining area set behind glazed doors and an aft deck terrace. The lovers of extreme sports will appreciate a spacious garage, hosting a 5,4m tender, jet ski and scuba diving.
As for technical features of the superyacht Galatea, they can be put into few words – is the world’s fastest Dutch-built sportster, reaching a top speed of 28 knots (around 32.2mph). The 40m aluminum semi-displacement design features the newest MTU 16V 4000 M73L engines, which is how it reaches such high speeds and maintains a nautical range of 2,200 miles.
