Jaeger-LeCoultre introduces a revamped Polaris Chronograph collection, featuring two captivating dials that beautifully showcase the brand’s artisanal craftsmanship. With a keen focus on versatility, the new Polaris Chronograph models come with interchangeable straps, allowing wearers to effortlessly transition between different styles and attitudes.
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Chronograph pays homage to the brand’s iconic diving watches from the 1960s, infusing their sporting essence with modern sophistication. The collection seamlessly marries robust capabilities with elegant aesthetics, resulting in a timepiece that’s not only reliable in any adventure but also captivating on the wrist.
At the heart of the new Polaris Chronograph lies an intricate dial, meticulously constructed to captivate with its bold and striking aesthetics. Available in deep blue and warm grey, the lacquered surfaces of the dials draw the eye, underscoring the Polaris character’s duality – one side elegant, the other sporty. The dial’s complex structure comprises a central disc, a middle ring hosting the hour markers, and an outer ring marked with a tachymeter scale. The lacquering process is an arduous artisanal endeavor involving layer upon layer of varnish and color, resulting in gradients that transition from light to dark, imbuing the dials with an exceptional depth and richness.
The layout of the new Polaris Chronograph dial is both timeless and easy to read, featuring a central chronograph seconds hand for precise time measurement. The 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock and the sub-dial at 9 o’clock, now featuring a running seconds display, provide balance and visual interest. The sub-dials’ circular graining complements the glossy lacquered surfaces and opaline finish of the outer ring. Vibrant orange accents infuse dynamism into the dial, while skeletonized hands enhance visibility of the indications. The bold trapezoid-shaped indexes, a hallmark of Polaris design, provide a contemporary contrast to the fine detail of the chronograph displays.
Turning the watch over reveals the intricate Calibre 761 movement, a testament to Jaeger-LeCoultre’s unwavering commitment to watchmaking excellence. This automatic movement, housed within the Manufacture’s own facility, boasts a column-wheel chronograph mechanism with vertical clutch, delivering high performance and mechanical elegance. The movement is powered by twin barrels and offers an impressive 65-hour power reserve. The movement’s finishing touches, including blued screws and Côtes de Genève decoration on the baseplate, exemplify the brand’s meticulous craftsmanship.
With a case diameter of 42mm, the Polaris Chronograph exudes the Polaris line’s distinct design codes – a harmonious blend of taut lines, curvaceous lugs, a thin bezel, and a glass-box crystal. The large crown and robust pushers, inspired by the original 1960s model, ensure easy handling. The juxtaposition of brushed and polished surfaces adds depth and character to the watch’s appearance, showcasing the brand’s penchant for detail.
True to its spirit of adaptability, the Polaris Chronograph comes equipped with an interchangeable strap system, enabling wearers to effortlessly shift between various styles. The blue dial model comes with a steel bracelet and a textured blue rubber strap, while the grey dial model is accompanied by a beige canvas strap and a textured black rubber strap. This versatility makes the Polaris Chronograph a companion that effortlessly transitions from everyday elegance to high-performance sportsmanship.
