In the world of luxury car models, one name stands out for its unparalleled craftsmanship and attention to detail – Amalgam Collection. Drawing inspiration from the precision of fine watchmakers, the maker of the finest hand-made large-scale models has forged strong partnerships with designers, engineers, and manufacturer brands, earning a reputation for delivering stunning editions of model cars for various purposes. Recently, the artisans at Amalgam Collection unveiled the first images of their masterpiece – the Aston Martin DB5 Vantage model.
To recreate the legendary Aston Martin DB5 Vantage in miniature, Amalgam’s journey begins with CAD data developed from a digital scan of the original car. The artisans carefully transform this data into a prototype, ensuring that every minute detail is captured in the scaling-down process. Moulds are then created for individual parts, utilizing materials like metal, carbon fiber, rubber, and even 3D printing technology. With precision as their guiding principle, Amalgam’s team devoted over 5000 hours to develop the DB5 Vantage model, earning the seal of approval from the engineers and designers at Aston Martin.
Measuring over 57cm (22in) in length, each subsequent model of the DB5 Vantage takes a staggering 500 hours to craft. Throughout this intricate process, the artisans meticulously cast, fit, fettle, paint, and assemble the model, ensuring that every aspect of the car is flawlessly reproduced. The result is a visually indistinguishable replica, featuring authentic details such as opening doors, engine cover, and trunk, providing a glimpse into the 3995cc naturally aspirated straight-six engine and an all-black interior.
With only 199 pieces available, the $21,995 Aston Martin DB5 Vantage model exudes exclusivity. Each owner is granted the privilege of experiencing the timeless beauty and allure of the legendary car in their own home. In a unique offering, Amalgam allows owners of the real DB5 Vantage to commission a perfect replica of their own car’s specifications through the exclusive tailor-made service. Leveraging deep relationships with Aston Martin’s engineers and historians, Amalgam ensures a faithful representation of every visible aspect, from exterior paint color and license plates down to the wooden-rimmed wheel, offering complete exclusivity to each client.
Amalgam’s long-standing collaboration with Aston Martin spans over fifteen years and has resulted in several remarkable models. From limited 1:8 scale editions of the road-going DB9 and Vanquish to Aston Martin Racing’s DBR9 and LMP1 24 Hours of Le Mans entries, the two brands have celebrated the beauty and thrill of automotive excellence. More recently, Amalgam captured the essence of the 1961 RAC Goodwood Tourist Trophy with their series based on the Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato, known as ‘1 VEV’, driven by Roy Salvadori.
