On the heels of the pandemic pet adoption boom, pet-friendly housing has never been more sought after. According to the Pet-Inclusive Housing Initiative, 67% of all U.S. households have at least one pet, and 48% of millennials and gen-Zer are planning to adopt one this year. The Bottling Plant – a historic Coca-Cola plant turned luxury rental in Frederick, Maryland – is setting a new standard for pet-friendly housing in the state through collaboration with Bark Buildings, a unique lifestyle brand that promotes responsible pet ownership.
Located at 1707 N. Market Street, overlooking Rose Hill Manor park, The Bottling Plant includes 86 residences, ranging from one- to three-bedrooms. Residents and pet owners of the luxury rental will enjoy access to the best local pet care providers that have been checked and approved by Bark Buildings, along with educational resources, community events that connect fellow pet families in the building, bold signage, a treat jar and new pet ‘welcome gifts’.
Brother-sister duo Devir and Danit Zivan, founders of pet amenities brand Bark Buildings, are expanding across the country to help developers service this growing demographic. Their platform provides expert services and amenities alongside training for staff to build pet-friendly environments holistically. Launched in 2016 in Jersey City, New Jersey, as an in-building amenity, Bark Buildings now services 14 properties, including high-profile new developments like Journal Squared, Modera Lofts and 235 Grand. The company recently launched a new program that offers onsite enhancements, a dedicated pet concierge, and a digital community portal for apartment buildings across the U.S.
