The Brooklyn Grove, a 184-unit condominium in Downtown Brooklyn, has brought on Ali Reeve Design to create three bold model residences featuring a mix of vintage and unique pieces paired with upholstered furniture, wallpapers and other elements from digital decorating platform The Inside. Rather than hire the go-to stagers used by many developments across the city, the team at The Brooklyn Grove sought to deliver a fresh perspective. Ali Reeve Design looked to The Inside for its personalized and inspired assortment of upholstered furniture. The Inside, which designs essential pieces in exclusive patterns at real-world prices, has collaborated with some of the biggest names in fashion and design. The result is a conceptualized, bold look that embraces color and pattern (in contrast to white box model units), pairing looks from the Inside’s made-to-order and direct-to-consumer offerings with vintage finds and unique pieces.
The firm outfitted the three residences with pieces from The Inside’s Scalamandré, Clare V., SF Girl By The Bay, and Katherine Carter for Homepolish collaborations, as well as many of The Inside’s original collections. Antique and vintage pieces, along with art, were sourced from a variety of online vintage vendors. Distinctive pieces from bespoke vendors, Fort Standard, Hawkins NY, Cym Warkov and Studio Four were also featured throughout the model units.
Warm, inviting colors and textures dominate the style of the residences. Alison Murray Winkler, founder of Ali Reeve Design, used color-blocked paint techniques and wallpaper from The Inside to add a touch of pattern that contrasts with ODA’s (the firm that designed the interiors) calm, neutral palette.
Kitchens are outfitted with oak cabinetry with antique brass hardware designed exclusively for the building by ODA. The concrete-colored Caesarstone countertops and island are complemented by a Brazilian quartzite tile backsplash. Residences boast a full Bosch kitchen appliance package. Master baths are decorated with two types of stone in a warm, neutral palette, including a composition of Santa Marina marble tile walls and Pietra Piasentina-like porcelain tile flooring. Two- and three-bedrooms feature walk-in showers with glass enclosure. Secondary baths feature glazed white ceramic walls, grey porcelain tiling, custom vanity with Caesarstone countertop, Waterworks fixtures, and Laufen water closet. These baths either feature a walk-in shower with glass shower enclosure or a tub by Hydro Systems.
Residents can enjoy a range of premium amenities including a dual-level amenity area with a 40-foot indoor swimming pool illuminated by a large skylight. The residents lounge comes with dramatic 22-foot ceiling, a gas fireplace surrounded by floor-to-ceiling Arabescato Orobico marble, and a pool table. A private dining room with functional kitchenette and lounge area; expansive fitness center; dedicated exercise studio; woodland-inspired children’s playroom; and 24-hour concierge are additional amenities and services for residents. A rooftop lounge offers separate lounging and dining areas, and barbecue grills. Additional amenities include a pet spa, package storage, and bicycle storage, which is accessible for easy commuting and storage.
