In 1957 OMEGA has release three timepieces Seamaster 300, the Railmaster and the Speedmaster. All three became absolute classics and this year a Swiss luxury watchmaker celebrates six decades of their success by releasing special 60th Anniversary editions of each model. For enthusiasts not content with owning just one of these classic watches, the OMEGA 1957 Trilogy box was created. Limited to just 557 pieces, a specially-engraved Swiss oak box contains all three watches that are engraved with identical Limited Edition numbers. The box also includes a leather watch roll with six spare straps (three leather/three NATO) as well as a wooden spring bar changing tool.
Part of The OMEGA 1957 Trilogy, the Speedmaster 60th Anniversary Limited Edition 38.6 mm ($7,250) is inspired by the “Broad Arrow”, the first Speedmaster and chronograph wristwatch in the world with its tachymeter scale on the bezel as opposed to printed on the dial. With its perfect match of the original ’57 tachymeter, this 2017 Speedmaster stays true to this design. It is powered by the 1861 calibre.
The 1957 Railmaster was designed for those working close to electrical fields; and though the new The new Railmaster 60th Anniversary Limited Edition 38 mm ($6,800) retains the original’s unpretentious style, its Master Chronometer 8806 movement takes antimagnetic to a whole new level, resisting fields of 15,000 gauss.
Based on the CK2913, this new Seamaster 300 – 60th Anniversary Limited Edition 39 mm ($7,000), features a black aluminium bezel and retains the famous Naïad sign on the crown, which back in ’57 was a mark of exceptional water resistance. Powering the 2017 model is the Master Chronometer 8806.
The OMEGA 1957 Trilogy Limited Editions are cased in brushed and polished stainless steel and feature a black ‘tropical’ dial, with vintage indexes slightly deepened to allow filling with Super-LumiNova. The stainless steel bracelets have been updated for strength and aesthetics and feature a retro-style OMEGA logo on the clasp. Each watch is limited to 3,557 pieces and is delivered inside a presentation box inspired by the original 1957 packaging, right down to the Seahorse on the lid, a retro logo and beige corduroy lining. The box also contains two spare straps; leather and NATO, as well as a tool to change them.
