Omikron Yachts unveiled its inaugural production model, the OT60. This 60-foot “sailing yacht without sails” pays homage to the rich seafaring traditions of the Eastern Mediterranean and sets a new standard for sustainable and serene cruising.
As the brainchild of Olympic Marine’s storied shipyard on the Aegean, the OT60 represents a harmonious fusion of tradition and innovation. The vision behind Omikron Yachts is clear – to create a vessel that seamlessly combines the tranquility of a sailboat with the efficiency of modern technology.
The heart of the OT60 lies in its commitment to sustainability. The Eco-Cruise hull, meticulously crafted by Juan Kouyoumdjian, ensures optimal seakeeping and efficiency for Mediterranean island hopping. With a range of 1000 nautical miles at 12 knots, the yacht consumes a mere 1.25 liters per mile, making it a paragon of eco-friendly cruising. The emphasis on efficiency is not just about reaching destinations but also about savoring the journey.
The OT60’s design, a collaboration between Lorenzo Argento and Ciarmoli Queda Studio, reflects a commitment to tranquility and comfort. The spacious interior, bathed in natural light from large windows, features a light, neutral color palette and tactile natural fabrics. The minimalist cleanliness of the technical area on the main deck exemplifies the yacht’s dedication to a serene and uncluttered atmosphere.
The connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces is seamlessly integrated into the OT60’s design. The cockpit, featuring L-shaped sofas under a hard top, invites guests to enjoy the sea breeze. The absence of a flybridge maintains an elegant style, while the expansive aft deck offers a sun-soaked retreat and a beach area for safe water access.
The lower deck of the OT60 challenges traditional yacht layouts. An open-concept annex between staterooms accommodates a galley and indoor dining area, fostering a communal lifestyle at sea. With two layout options – three or four cabins, each with private bathrooms – the yacht offers flexibility to suit the preferences of its discerning owners.
Omikron Yachts’ wide experience, as demonstrated by the Omikron Technical Office, ensures the OT60’s systems and engineering are top-notch.
