One of New York’s most whimsical properties, The Roxbury at Stratton Falls offers a plethora of wintry outdoor adventures in the sought-after Catskills region. Whether you enjoy skiing and snowboarding, fishing, golfing, hiking, biking, swimming, ziplining, distillery tours, kayaking, tubing, shopping, antiquing, auctioning, museum-hopping, train-riding, horseback riding or just relaxing in a tranquil setting, this region is being re-discovered as one of the country’s premier four-season retreats.
The Town of Roxbury is unique in its location in the Catskills in that it is less than an hour away from the Catskills four main ski areas: Belleayre, Plattekill, Hunter, and Windham. Travelers can enjoy the over-the-top hotel’s mountain discount to buy out the entire Plattekill Mountain this year to ski, snowboard, snow tube, and more.
Guests can warm up from the mountains with the inn’s complimentary white chocolate hot cocoa before venturing back out through the property’s very own winter wonderland—a snow-covered, private waterfall trail leading the millennia-old Stratton Falls, which freezes in the winter for a truly transportive outdoor escape.
The best part is that guests have a chance to stay in the coziest, whimsical winter escape in one of the new individual Tower Cottages. The Faerie Forest, for example, features floor-to-ceiling trees, one-of-a-kind chandeliers aglow with faerie lights, and tiny hollow tree faerie homes. The cottage features two queen bedrooms, each with their own privately-accessed bathroom. One bathroom with a tub and shower and one bathroom with a large walk-in shower. It is the only cottage that has a small balcony on the front of the building accessed from the upstairs bedroom as well as an interior “Juliet balcony” on the second floor.
