BMT Group and McConaghy Boats announced the development of the Tri60 – a 60-foot trimaran designed to combine the features of both a leisure vessel and a power boat
Trimaran – is a multihull boat that comprises a main hull and two smaller outrigger hulls (or “floats”) which are attached to the main hull with lateral beams. Trimarans are most commonly sail-driven yachts designed for recreation or racing, but there are a few trimaran ferries and warships.
Short-listed for the International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2015 in the Yacht Concept up to 40m category, the new Tri60 from BMT Group, caters to level the desire for Space, Style and Speed in a uniquely-shaped platform.
BMT worked with McConaghy two years ago on a unique composite project at the same time that the much-celebrated 142-foot Adastra trimaran was being completed. We asked —How can we capture the spirit of this compelling work? How do we create something that is as innovative and exciting, whilst also being accessible to a wider dayboat or weekender market?” says Richard Colwill, Managing Director at BMT Asia Pacific.
The Tri6The BMT’s naval architects, engineers across Asia and Europe, Henry Ward Design and A Sea Marine are behind the Tri60 project. The new trimaran comes in two versions: the more open Tri60 Cabriolet, for those who prefer outdoor leisure and recreation, and the more enclosed Tri60 Saloon, with big, spacious cabin that straddles the full width of the deck. Both versions are built off an optimised trimaran hull form providing outstanding performance, and maintained by the warranty of McConaghy’s award winning build quality.
The Tri60 is equipped with a lightweight carbon fibre roof, allowing guests to enjoy the stars and sky to the utmost. Large sliding doors and windows and flexible furniture configuration makes it possible to adjust the yacht to best suit swimming, lounging or entertaining and dining. The vessel can travel up to 32 knots on its base engine option, with the twin 475hp engines delivering cruising and top speeds in a lightweight package.
