At the heart of the La Rose Noire Droptail lies a captivating inspiration: the allure of the Black Baccara rose. This intense, velvet-like flower, originating in France, holds a special place in the heart of the commissioning family, particularly the mother. The deep, pomegranate color of the rose’s petals, which appears nearly black in shade, transforms into a mesmerizing pearlescent red shimmer when exposed to light. These two shades, “True Love” and “Mystery,” become the primary palette of the masterpiece, representing the essence of romance and the intrigue of exploration that captivated the clients throughout the commissioning process.
The exterior coachwork of the La Rose Noire Droptail showcases a lustrous and multi-dimensional “True Love” red finish. The car, much like the Black Baccara rose, appears to shift colors depending on the viewing angle, adding a layer of mystique and sophistication. Achieving this rich variation required the development of a new paint process, refined over 150 meticulous iterations. A closely guarded secret base coat forms the foundation, followed by five layers of clear lacquer, each blended with a slightly different tone of red, creating a symphony of colors that dance with the light.
The duotone theme extends to the brightwork, featuring the Hydroshade dark finish, created exclusively for this project. Through a precise chrome plating process, a dark but reflective finish is achieved, reflecting the elegance and opulence inherent in every Rolls-Royce masterpiece.
Step inside the La Rose Noire Droptail, and you’re welcomed into an interior that can only be described as an immersive work of art. The interior design features an intricate parquetry pattern that mirrors falling rose petals, realized through 1,603 pieces of hand-cut black wood veneer triangles. This extraordinary expression of contemporary craft, crafted over nearly two years, envelops the occupants in a symphony of elegance and comfort.
Every element in the interior exudes meticulous attention to detail, from the seats adorned with dark red and light red leather, to the bespoke timepiece by Audemars Piguet integrated into the fascia. The 43mm Royal Oak Concept Split-Seconds Chronograph GMT Large Date perfectly complements the colorway of the La Rose Noire Droptail, showcasing the fusion of luxury and horological artistry.
To celebrate the creation of the La Rose Noire Droptail, the owners commissioned an exclusive vintage of Champagne de Lossy, a rarity from one of their favorite wine estates. This exquisite motor car was met with an equally exquisite creation: the Rolls-Royce Champagne Chest. Adorned with matching rose petal parquetry, the Champagne Chest is a testament to Rolls-Royce’s dedication to detail and luxury. With the press of a button, the chest opens to reveal a champagne set complete with hand-blown crystal flutes, showcasing the synergy between automotive and culinary opulence.
