The Louis Vuitton exhibition Volez, Voguez, Voyagez – Louis Vuitton retracing the brand’s great journey from 1854 until today, is open to the public until 27 August 2017, at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza, Seoul. Under the direction of Olivier Saillard, responsible for curating the event, the exhibition retraces the adventure of the Maison Louis Vuitton, from 1854 to the present, through the portraits of its founders, as well as of those who, today, are inventing the Louis Vuitton of tomorrow. This themed tour, divided into ten chapters presciently embodies the iconic hallmarks and bold spirit of Louis Vuitton.
Designed by Robert Carsen, tells the story of the House in 10 chapters including one entirely dedicated to Korea. It opens with the absolute symbol of Louis Vuitton: an antique malle, an innately modern design, it fast became the House’s icon, epitomizing Louis Vuitton’s audacious spirit. The exhibition presents objects and documents from Louis Vuitton’s archives, as well as, a selection of pieces on loan from the Palais Galliera, musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris and from private collectors. The Korean instruments presented during the Seoul exhibition come from the the Musée de la Musique – Philharmonie de Paris, where donated collections from 1900 Exposition Universelle are displayed, illustrating the refinement of the traditional techniques. A section devoted to craftsmanship, with craftsmen from the Louis Vuitton ateliers closes the exhibition.
