The young actress Willow Smith was chosen by Karl Lagerfeld as the face of the new Chanel Fall‑Winter 2016/17 Eyewear campaign. Moreover Chanel Creative Director photographed his most recent muse himself.
Willow Smith, the 15-year-old daughter of power couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, is an American singer, actress and dancer. Her Chanel campaign debut was announced earlier this year in March, following Chanel’s fall/winter 2016 fashion show at Paris fashion week.
“A multifaceted artist, writer-composer-singer and actress, Willow Smith is the embodiment of her generation’s spirit. Her youth and energy charmed Karl Lagerfeld, who has invited her to join the family of Chanel muses… Swathed in jewels from the Fall-Winter 2016/17 Ready-to-Wear collection, she breathes new energy into the world of Chanel eyewear,” Chanel cites in a press statement.
Willow Smith appears in black-and-white images modeling the French fashion house’s Fall 2016 eyewear. The ad features the aspiring singer lounging over a white cube, wearing black sunglasses and a Chanel dress, with a Chanel wrapping ribbon tied in her hair. The other image showcases the teen in thick-rimmed specs, with a belt wrapped around her neck and a tweed peace sign pinned into her signature dreadlocks. The print ads are also accompanied by a series of videos.
