This week luxury condominium 180 East 88th Street partnered with the non-profit Ladies Who Hoop, an organization dedicated to empowering women of all ages through the game of basketball, to host the First Annual Free-Throw Contest at the rapidly progressing building and provide a first-look at the future basketball court amenity space. Former WNBA Star and Cover Girl Kym Hampton and Ivy League All-Star and current pro-athlete Armani Cotton were both in attendance, along with more than 40 brokers.
Guests had the opportunity to sign an ’empowerment wall’ and were led through drills and treated to instruction by Ladies Who Hoop Founder Amber Batchelor and the organization’s Director of Organizational Development & Programming Meagan LaDue to dust off their court skills and prepare for the lively free-throw contest that followed.
In the end attendee Michael Deutch prevailed and won the contest, and was able to direct 180 East 88th Street’s donation to one of three funding initiatives for Ladies Who Hoop; Future Ladies Who Hoop. 180 East 88th Street is being designed and developed by DDG, whose CEO and Chairman, Joe McMillan, was also in attendance.
Situated in the Upper East Side’s coveted Carnegie Hill neighborhood, the condominium is being developed and designed by national real estate developer DDG. The firm’s first Uptown project, 180 East 88th Street is inspired by the pre-war boom in high-rise masonry construction in New York during the 1920s-1940s, and DDG’s design team paid homage to the lost art of traditional craftsmanship while maintaining a modern aesthetic. It features 48 graciously-appointed private residences ranging from lofts to five-bedrooms, full floor and duplex units, as well as a gracious triplex penthouse. When complete, the building will include a partial indoor basketball court featuring double-height ceilings and an abundance of natural light.
