ZENITH‘s iconic watch Chronomaster Sport has undergone a stunning transformation and is now adorned with a captivating blue dial inspired by the vast night sky and the aspirations it holds.
The Chronomaster Sport, a recipient of the prestigious 2021 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève “Chronograph” prize, represents ZENITH’s unrivaled legacy in crafting automatic high-frequency chronographs. Beyond a mere dial change, the newest version pays homage to the “DeLuca” and “Rainbow” references of the 1980s and 1990s, embracing a striking blue tricolour dial and a polished steel bezel.
Drawing inspiration from iconic El Primero references, particularly the “DeLuca” and “Rainbow,” the Chronomaster Sport features a 1/10th of a second chronograph function. Notably, the engraved bezel, a first for the steel core collection, is meticulously crafted in stainless steel, giving it a distinctly retro aesthetic reminiscent of earlier El Primero models.
The dial of the Chronomaster Sport is a mesmerizing canvas of metallic blue with a sunburst finish, creating a symphony of contrasts, textures, and depths. In a nod to history, the tricolour dial, a hallmark of El Primero design, takes on a new context. The shades of grey and blue on the chronograph counters add a touch of sophistication, and the date wheel harmoniously matches the dial for a cohesive visual experience.
Equipped with the latest El Primero calibre, the El Primero 3600, the Chronomaster Sport sets a new standard in high-frequency movements. Operating at 5 Hz (36,000 VpH), it offers a true 1/10th of a second indication. The movement’s efficiency is further enhanced, boasting an extended power reserve of 60 hours. The sapphire display back provides a captivating view of the contemporary architecture, revealing a blue column wheel and an open rotor marked with the iconic Zenith five-pointed star.
